Making Dandelion Mead (Metheglin) – Part 1

Methoglin
Dandelions are at their peak right now, and I feel like making something with them – it’s been a long time since I did any home brewing, and also, I’ve fancied having a go at making mead (honey wine) for quite a while now – so let’s collide those two ideas and make Dandelion Metheglin.

Metheglin is basically mead with herbs added – and the herbs I’m going to use are, of course, dandelion flowers!

For more about mead, here’s an excellent video from Max at Tasting History: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MAB-VVqjOE

For a very balanced and well-researched view on the (non)risks of heating honey, here’s Adam Ragusea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krLdSMci2q4

For some more stuff about dandelions, there are a few old articles on my own website: http://atomicshrimp.com/?q=dandelion
